The Lake House

We spent this past weekend at the lake with family.  Growing up, we had a lake house in South Carolina, so our summer weekends were spent water skiing (no one does that anymore!), diving off the dock, and playing games on the screened porch.  This past weekend was the first time I had been to the lake since my children were born, and it reminded me of how much I love those long summer days at the lake.  By the end of the day, I was googling real estate sites for properties on the lake (ha- that won't be happening anytime soon!).

But if I had a lake house....

Our children and their friends/ cousins would sleep in a big bunk room.

Our bedroom would be decorated in soft neutrals with paneled walls.

I'd hang a couple of these chandeliers over

a long dining room table.

I'd curl up and take a nap on a big screened porch.

The stairs would be dressed with a striped runner.

A wooden Chris-Craft boat would be tied to the dock.

We'd watch the sun set into the water, with a glass of wine in hand.

Do you love the lake?

OMG this is idyllic. I love everything you picked, and I feel the same way. We grew up vacationing on the water at the beach and it is the same blissful feeling. Im so glad you got to enjoy it this weekend. Im dreaming with you for property!

I still water ski. :) What a great post - I still love going to the lake with my family. This makes me miss it now that I've moved farther away!

Ahhh I love everything about this! Those bunk rooms are awesome.

That boat...I can't even imagine owning something so beautiful.

Oh my goodness, love this. My husband and I have been fantasizing about this lately. We'd love our two year old daughters to have a repeating summer lake experience, although neither he or I group up with that. And we strongly prefer a lake to the beach. Oh boy, you had me googling lake properties, too. But I had to come back and thank you for adding fuel to the fantasy :)
