Special Sunday

Our precious Sally was baptized on Sunday.  It was such a special day with our immediate families.  Sally wore the same white linen gown that her big brother and older cousins have worn.  Their names and baptism dates are all monogrammed on the back with tonal white stitching.

Her big brother wore a white shirt and shorts that my husband wore in a wedding when he was a little boy.  There is something so adorable about a little boy with knobby knees in dress shorts and knee socks.

I wore an ivory sheath dress from the awesome annual J McLaughlin sale (it was $35, seriously) and a Carolina Herrera coral tweed jacket that I stalked FOREVER at Off Fifth until I finally could afford it.  I popped into Marshalls on Saturday for no good reason and almost died when I found these linen flats with patent coral toes for $35.

In our church, the parents share a blessing for the child with the congregation during the baptism.  It is such a precious moment.  Our blessing for Sally is from Colossians 3:12.

"And so, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."  I need to remind myself of that verse every day.

Thanks for letting me share, and I can't wait to share a fun spring table with you tomorrow!

Congratulations on such a happy occasion. I can tell you are a Southern girl....we are baptizing my godson in two weeks and we also have the names embroidered on the family christening gown. It is such a wonderful tradition.
All our best for a wonderful, long, and happy life for your little ones.
PS Have you shopped at Bella Bliss? Their bubble jumpers and sweaters are so precious!

Thank you for sharing such a special memory with us. I wish I could have been there to partake in such a special day. That is a wonderful verse that I plan on reminding myself of often. I can't believe you found such a perfect pair of flats to go with your outfit on Saturday! I want to see pictures!

How very beautiful that you value tradition, and treasure the classic clothing once worn. This is my heart, the tradition, the passing down of clothes to the next members of the family. That's my history and that's what I bring to my Rowantree Collection. x Roberta
