Guess what popped up on Craigslist this weekend? An antique brass chiavari chair! It wasn't cheap, but it is made of solid brass and is really heavy and in perfect condition, so I picked it up!
Chiavari chairs originated in Italy and are still manufactured in the Italian Riviera town of Chiavari (although we frequently see reproductions at weddings and parties).
One quick seat reupholstering job later....
And it's perfect at my lacquered black French desk!
The shiny brass perfectly complements the gold hardware and the gold-leaf lining of the desk drawers.
A brass chiavari chair is perfect for a pretty living room desk (a form over function desk, that is). For instance:

I didn't know about these chairs...but I do now and I think they are wonderful! I want one because I can't get enough of accessorizing with brass!
Oh great score! I've been looking for a chair just like that for my office desk but so far come up empty handed. That pic from Martha Stewart was my inspiration point. Enjoy it!
