The Pleasant Pheasant

I'm in the process of figuring out my tablescape for a little Thanksgiving-themed dinner I'm hosting next weekend. I could eat Thanksgiving dinner 365 days a year so I'm always looking for excuses to celebrate it as many times as possible! Anyway I've always wanted to decorate for fall with pheasant feathers. I'm always drawn to the gorgeous colors and natural patterns. Proof that you really can't beat Mother Nature.

However there was a slight obstacle to my plan. At Michaels and Jo Ann, a single pheasant feather is something ridiculous like $5. So to do a huge bouquet like this you'd be looking at hundreds of dollars! Silly.

Enter EBay, of course. I ordered four dozen feathers for something like $30. However, if you only end up getting your hands on a few feathers, you can make them go far like Eddie Ross does here.

After I make my arrangement I might save a few to garnish the dessert (Ina's pumpkin roulade, of course).

I'm hoping to recreate something like this for the table.

They're even pretty in a haphazard pile of silver.

Are you using any pheasant feathers this Thanksgiving? - Posted using BlogPress from my iPad

I absolutely love pheasant feathers and they are perfect for this time of year! That Eddie Ross setting is ideal! I have been debating if we'll have a little Thanksgiving dinner here even though we are far away from the US - you have inspired me!

For my fall hanging baskets on the exterior doors, I added some very tall pheasant plumage. Just the right touch!
