Gaultier for Roche there something I'm missing?

I have never, ever understood Roche Bobois. I can't figure out the style, the appeal, or the prices. I snapped this picture the other day when I walked by the store. They have a new line by Jean Paul Gaultier, which in theory sounds kinda cool, but in reality looks like this:

Yes those are chairs with wheels. That have a "Gaultier" sign on the back. I laughed when I saw them, and laughed even harder when I saw the price tag...$7,000!!!

Here's a shot of the "ben hur" chair from the website.

I kinda like where they are going with this striped rug, though!

Apparently the concept is movable furniture...though isn't this basically a mirror sitting on a dolly? Just sayin'...

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I COMPLETELY agree with you. These chairs are ridiculous and those mirrors? I'm not necessarily one for DIY projects, but you could completely customize the size and I'm sure cut the price drastically down by making one yourself. The striped rug with the striped couch along with those metallic subway tiles definitely stand as the exception.

The photo at the top of the staircase immediately struck me as perfect for a murder spoof: One where heirs are offing aged relatives with so much money they don't know what to do with it. And the entire line looks as though it was made for such people. Perhaps those responsible are doing social commentary on our era, in which case they've succeeded wonderfully. On the other hand, if they're taking themselves seriously, sorry but I think they're daft.

The ad with the chair with wheels on the stair landing is very "Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?"!
