I've gotten some recommendations for restaurants but that's about it...so I'm looking to our ever-knowledgeable readers to for suggestions as to other must-do, must-see, must-eat, and must-shop places. You know my obsessions- vintage clothes, vintage furniture, maybe a fun boutique or two thrown in. Fun bars a plus. All things quirky and the random are fine by me! I know nothing and want to hear ALL your tips and tricks!
And while we're at it...is this mud situation par for the course? Should I bring wellies? How very Glastonbury.

Thanks in advance for all your advice!

Bring a mister and a fan! It's so blazin' hot right now, it's not even funny. Anyway, you've got to hit Uncommon Objects on South Congress. It's a great vintage shop with TONS of personality. Actually, all the shops on South Congress are a blast. Enjoy! Dana
We always take out of town guests to two places: the Whole Foods flagship store downtown and the South Congress area. Whole Foods usually has good people watching, and has a few "restaurants" in the middle of the store with table service. South Congress has a bunch of fun boutiques and vintage shops, as well as several good restaurants and food trailers (although there will be a ton of food trailers at ACL, too). And I would expect it to be more dusty than muddy, unless they wet down the ground. Hope you have a great time!

So jealous! I've always really wanted to go to ACL. Can't wait to hear all about it!
Sunset (and margaritas) at The Oasis! My best memory of my trip to Austin. Have a great time!
One of my best friends is the concierge at the Omni Hotel in downtown Austin. He knows the places to eat, drink, party, whatever it is that you want to do. Go by and give him a shout, his name is Rob and he's amazing! He's sort of a local celeb, (new first time daddy too). Have a wonderful time.
Muddy is not even an issue--Texas is dealing with such a severe drought and horribly high temperatures!
It is going to be so stinkin' hot! The new W has a fun bar. Lambert's Bar-B-Que on 2nd Street is a fun space and good food (good brunch too). If you've been to ACL before I'm sure you've eaten at Chuy's (because it is close) but I still really like it. I also love having a "Champassion" (champagne & passion fruit juice) at the San Jose (on South Congress. Stop by my store Hayden Avery if you get a chance and have fun!
It is horribly hot right now. Make sure you have a good water bottle with you at all times.
You'll love Austin.
Every time I go back to visit I stop at Feathers Boutique for vintage clothing.
Check out my Yelp review of this store and other places that I like there: http://www.yelp.com/list/favorite-spots-in-austin-austin
Have fun!
Definitely South Congress for lunch at Guero's Taco Bar and vintage shopping. Crazy fun costume store called Lucy in Disguise is a fun place to stop in. Drive through the Westlake Hills and visit Mt. Bonnell for a great view. Eat at Shady Grove on your way out of ACL and visit Barton Springs to cool off if you can! And if you still want more music visit Stubb's and Antone's.
Enjoy!
Try Kerbey Lane Cafe for an awesome breakfast. 3704 Kerbey Lane; kerbeylanecafe.com or 512/451-1436

Yay!! See you there! I've been going to ACL for the last couple years...definitely a great idea for wellies or super cheap boots (the mud pit 2yrs ago was so fun having a pair of boots and not having to go barefoot!) A cute hat/fedora is a must too cuz it's going to be hotttttt & dusty! Austin has some fabulous character, food & fun, you're gonna love it!
I wanted to thank you for this great read!! I definitely enjoying every little bit of it I have you bookmarked to check out new stuff you post…
