Could this be the next big Kelly Wearstler fabric? I hit up my favorite fabric place the other day and lo and behold, among the remnant yards of Imperial Trellis, Bengal Bazaar, and other KWID favorites I've become accustomed to seeing, I spied a new pattern by KWID called "Agate."
It came in four colorways- as pictured from left to right- a pink/tan, beige/blue, purple/pink, and blue/tan. I wish I'd snapped a picture of the name/maker at the edge of the fabric so you could see that indeed this was by KWID, but I just didn't think about it. I did end up purchasing all of this yardage, though, to send to a blog friend who wanted it.
As you all know, we are obsessed with agate- the mineral. Minerals seem to have last that earth-mother stigma from the 80's and have been "in" with a force in the decor and fashion worlds for the last few seasons. This fabric does a great job of approximating the wavy, organic bands that agate is best known for.
And the "Agate" fabric really does have Kelly Wearstler's fingerprints all over it- can't you see the pink/beige colorway going perfectly in this bedroom?
Since the wavy mineral-like print also comes with a jolt of color, it would go just perfectly in Kelly's own office!
So...keep your eyes peeled because maybe we'll be seeing KWID "Agate" on the market quite soon. I cannot find ANY reference to it online, but I'm not all that surprised. The fabric place often gets samples and test runs from the mills- they have had lots of pieces from the Lilly for Lee Joffa line for months- and I don't think that's even being offered for sale yet. So I would not be surprised if this "Agate" by KWID is something that's being tested. If so, you saw it here first!
