Book of the Month Clutches from Kate Spade...what would Osa say?

While we're on the subject of Kate Spade...the other week an eagle-eyed friend sent me a link to Kate Spade's I Married Adventure Book Clutch. I had never even heard of this series of book clutches that KS is doing this spring. The company designed their own cover art for some of their favorite books and then turned them into clutches, releasing one a month as sort of a "book of the month" spin-off, according to Vanity Fair.

Here's the I Married Adventure book (left) and the Kate Spade-ized clutch, right.

Also in the lineup....Great Expectations. As much as I love anything that encourages literature, I'm still trying to wrap my head around the mechanics of carrying these around as clutches. At $325 they're not cheap, and these are not an everyday sort of accessory. It's sort of hard to plan an outfit around an purse that has graphics and writing on it, don't you think? I'd love to see these turned into posters or small framable prints, though- that would be a fun series! Or even have them actually publish the books with these decorative covers as a box collection.
 Romeo & Juliet

Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest
And everyone's favorite Jane Austin...Emma

I wonder what's next on Kate Spade's next book of the month clutch! And in the meantime, apparently I really need to read The Importance of Being Earnest- that is the only one from this list I've never gotten to!

Would you carry around a book of the month clutch?

I'm going to pass on the clutches, but I love the idea of small prints or a box collection of the actual books!

Cool idea by KS! could be a fun way to put a twist to a classic outfit!

I think the Emma clutch is "tame" enough to be versatile...if that makes any sense. However, I don't really like the idea of carrying around a purse that looks like a clutch. It just doesn't make sense. I'd be more inclined to buy the small prints or boxed set.

She also makes "nook" covers that match these. I'm sure the clutches are spawned from these really popular "nook" covers! I'm not sure about them as a clutch though ...

I absolutely love this idea! Women wear graphic tees, carry totes with graphics, and have no problem with boldly colored or graphic print shoes...so I don't see how this is so much different. It's fun and quirky; certainly not the right style for everyone but it does capture your imagination and would probably be a great ice breaker at a networking event!! I'd personally use one...alas, just not at $325

They sell book purses at Eastern Market in Washington DC! I believe they have handles however. Some are super cute but I am not sure if I would really carry it around!
