With a 15-month old and another baby on the way, the glass-topped brass end table in my family room has been making me a little nervous. Don't get me wrong- I love the brass table. It has a fabulous squared-off base that is chic and modern. But one of my good friends put her arm through a glass-topped table when she was a little girl, and that story has haunted me from the moment I heard it. While I haven't actively been searching for a replacement, I've been keeping my eyes open for something less potentially treacherous.
Earlier this week I stumbled upon a pair of these black lacquered ming tables. The price was right, so I grabbed them!
Before, I used the glass-topped brass table on one end of the sofa. Prior to having children, I always said I would leave my pretty things out and teach my little ones not to play with them. RIGHT. Maybe that works with little girls, but my little boy is into everything and moves faster than the speed of lightning. So this table has been lampless and Herend-less for several months now.
I decided to switch out both the brass table and the white faux bamboo for the pair of black lacquered ming tables. Admittedly, I was feeling a little nervous about adding another "pair" to my room, as the room alraedy contains two pairs of chairs and a pair of lamps. But I am actually loving the symmetry provided by the pair of my new black lacquered ming tables on either end of the sofa.
Aren't the lines of the table great?
The lacquered finish is perfect too!
They remind me so much of the coffee table in this gorgeous room:
Would you guess they were $20 each?
