Well while we're on the subject of big announcements, over the weekend I had the pleasure of entrusting all of my worldly possessions to two 20-something guys, and a very large truck, who moved me to a new apartment. I only moved a mile or so within DC, but whether you're moving 50 feet or 500 miles, somehow the chaos of moving is the same! I've made a lot of progress unpacking yet things still seem a bit chaotic, so bear with me for the next couple of weeks while I get organized....
I'm glad that I'm finally at the stage where I love my furniture enough to move it all with me. No more starting from scratch like in college/grad school/early 20's. So moving is really more like rearranging. The one thing I decided to treat myself to for this move was a new rug. My old rug was literally falling to pieces. I knew I wanted leopard. On the advice of a family friend/fabulous decorator who works for Tom Stringer Design Partners in Chicago, I settled on this Karastan leopard number.
Avert your eyes- this is as much of a glimpse into the chaos as I'm going to reveal!
I ordered the rug from Rugstudio.com and it came lickety split via FedEx. Shipping was free and they are also sending a free 6x9 rug pad- a great deal considering buying one would be $80 or so.
The king of the jungle meets the jungle...
The living room is still far too much of a work in progress to show you the whole thing. Once I settle upon new pillows and make some other small changes to unify the color palate, of course I'll be sharing it. But here's a sneak peek...
But while I'm most proud of from my move- my terribly organized shoe rack. Any bets on how long it will look this pristine? I give it till Saturday, tops...

Meow!! A leopard rug is pretty much my idea of heaven- I actually guest posted over at From the Right Bank today and the topic...leopard- love love and can't wait to see it all come together- such it will be ridiculously fabulous.
Congratulations on the move and the rug looks gorgeous. I can't wait to see it all together.
Love that rug! I desperately want Suzanne Kasler's Jaguar rug for Safavieh ... but it hasn't been in the budget. I am going to click over and check this one out!
The rug is beautiful. Can't wait to see the whole room. Free unsolicited advice: turn your shoe rack around so the shoes are facing you - makes it quicker to grab the pair you want. :)
Wow, look at your beautiful floors! What I can see, I love.
I've been debating the creamy leopard rug from Ballard for the bedroom...I think it's a go!
And I hear ya on moving, we have moved 3 times, each literally across the street (what can I say, I like the neighborhood) and it is as much of a hassle as moving the next town over. Good luck digging out.
Congratulations on the new place and I can't wait to see what you do with it! Loooove the rug.
Oooh, I'm jealous! Rugs like that make me wish I was single again... I can't get the BF to agree to ANYTHING that is animal-print!
