A Beachy Bedroom Inspiration Board

I recently had the opportunity to put together an inspiration board for a beach house bedroom.  I love beachy style and would absolutely be happy living in a beach house for the rest of my life.  In my mind, beach house spaces should be light and airy and incorporate the blues, creams, whites, and greens of the beach.  The furnishings and accessories also need to be durable enough to withstand wet bathing suits, sandy toes, and lots of sunlight.  As is the case here, a beach house typically isn't a primary residence, so cost effectiveness is key.  I truly believe you can create a room that is beautiful, durable, and cost effective if you know the right places to splurge (Jonathan Adler throw) and save (Pier 1 bed).

Sources:
White Dresser:  Jonathan Adler
Bed:  Pier 1
Barcelona Chair:  Design Within Reach
Nightstands:  Ikea
Turtle Pillow and Throw:  Jonathan Adler
Turquoise Lamps:  Shades of Light
Matelasse Bedding:  Ikea
Paint:  Sherwin Williams
Rope Knot Doorstop:  Ballard Designs
Faux Bamboo Mirror:  MoS Marketplace
Brass Lobster:  m21 Marketplace (ours sold before we even listed them, so check out Christian's!)
Curtain and Bedskirt Fabric:  Quadrille

We have to note that since this is an inspiration board, we don't have to use the exact pieces I selected in the room, especially if there are budgetary constraints.  For example, we will probably paint an existing chest of drawers white rather than purchasing the Jonathan Adler version for $2500 (gorgeous as it may be).  Are we going to buy a Barcelona Chair for a beach house bedroom?  Probably not, but a chocolate brown armless chair in a modern style can easily be moved from room to room for entertaining (the saying that you never know how many friends you have until you have a beach house is true!).  While the Quadrille fabric is amazing, we found a fabulous chocolate brown and white pattern at the Schumacher Outlet in Chester, SC for less than $8 a yard, so the curtains and bedskirt will come in total for around the price of one yard of Quadrille.  And with a Schumacher fabric, you aren't sacrificing quality or style.

I am so excited to make this board a reality!  Look for pictures of the real beach house bedroom makeover to come!  If you would like an inspiration board for a room in your home, email us at mattersofstyle@gmail.com for more info!  We will custom tailor it to suit your style and budget, using existing pieces you love as well as incorporating some new additions and accessories to freshen up your space!

Love it--that is going to be a fabulous beach house. I can't wait to see it. Those lamps are great--perfect for a "regular" house too.
