MoS Washington's Back to Basics post the other week reminded me how much I love Blackhawk Hardware at Park Road Shopping Center here in Charlotte. Although I go there all year long, my favorite time to go is around the holidays, when the stacks of fresh wreaths hung by the front door smell so good!
Blackhawk is a good, old-fashioned store, but it's large enough that they have everything you need from a hardware (unless you are a contractor looking to buy lumber) as well as a fantastic garden center. Their poinsettias and amaryllises are among the prettiest I've ever seen.
As soon as you go inside, you must grab a paper bag of (complimentary) fresh popcorn, even if you aren't hungry. I'll admit that the popcorn keeps baby boy entertained so I can shop for hours. The Blackhawk folks are clever.
Without a doubt, Blackhawk carries the best selection of Caspari napkins in Charlotte. Even folks at other shops carrying Caspari have recommended Blackhawk to me when I was looking for something specific.
From cocktail napkins to dinner napkins to hand towels, you will find every pattern, shape, and size here.
They have some beautiful Pierre Frey paper napkins as well.
Do you have someone who loves to garden on your Christmas list? Who knew there were so many styles, colors, and sizes of gardening gloves?!
Blackhawk carries over 450 styles of doormats and small throw rugs, including custom monogrammed rugs. I love the brown-and-white Greek key rug on the bottom here.
If you are in need of knobs or drawer pulls for your home, they have the best selection in town (including over 5,000 knobs on display!).
You could easily stock a professional kitchen with Blackhawk's kitchen gadgets, from canisters to cookie cutters to colorful dish towels.
Wouldn't these mercury glass bottles and perfume decanters would be so pretty in a powder room? The prices are good too- these would make great gifts!
These waterproof striped cosmetic cases and jewelry holders are just perfect for any girl who travels. The patterns are so stylish (and not what you would expect to find at a store that also sells plungers and Draino)!
My favorite part of their bathroom section the array of shell accessories, including little trays, soapdishes, and wastebaskets.
If you like pretty gift wrap but don't necessarily want to splurge on expensive single sheets at stationery shops, Blackhawk has a great selection of wrapping paper. I came home with this peacock feather tissue paper- I can't wait to wrap something with it!
Sock monkeys and buttons on a chocolate brown background will be perfect for wrapping baby boy's first birthday gifts.
This stylish chinoiserie Caspari paper is reversible! I'm going to add a green velvet ribbon for my holiday wrapping.
If you head to Blackhawk, you will find helpful folks on nearly every aisle (my guess is that many of them have come out of retirement from other professions) who can talk you through nearly any project, step by step. They are so kind, knowledgeable, and patient when I ask them a thousand different questions. If you are in the area and haven't checked out Blackhawk, it's definitely worth a stop. It's my go-to store for everything from party napkins to bird seed to wreaths to Benjamin Moore Paint, and I bet you will love it too!
