Fall Fashion Obsessions: Camel and Red

Between a full-time job, a husband and 9-month old baby, reading nearly every domestic shelter magazine in publication each month, and of course MoS, I don't have a lot of time to spend reading fashion magazines.  However, when I get my hair done every 3 months, I usually plan to spend the entire precious 2-3 hours catching up on my fashion reads.  I did just that a couple of weeks ago and was delighted to flip through Vogue, Elle, and Harper's and see two of my favorite colors splashed across the fall pages- camel and red!

Camel and red, apart or together, are both such warm and luxurious colors.  I first fell in love with them when I was in high school and idolized the style of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and Gwyneth Paltrow.

I remember saving and saving and waiting and waiting for Belks to mark down their Max Mara camel hair coats enough for me to finally buy one (it was probably June of the following year by the time that happened).
I've worn camel and red since then, whether it has been in or out, so I couldn't be happier that it's finally "in" again.

Here are some camel and red looks we are loving for fall:
Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Yigal Azrouel, Tommy Hilfiger

Dries van Noten, Phillip Lim, Chloe, and Gucci

Tory Burch

Carolina Herrera

JCrew

Talbots (seriously)

Oscar de la Renta

Michael Kors

My purchases for fall:

Camel Cashmere Sweater

A vintage mink collar (my latest $2.50 thrift store find)

A vintage Gucci long-strap bag

And what I want...

Are you loving camel and red for fall?  Have you made any purchases?  Tell us about them!

Fabulous post! Brought me back to my HS days--Gwyneth & Carolyn were definitely style idols!! I love all the looks you put together. These shoes just arrived (in red!), and I can't wait for cooler days to come so I can wear them. You inspired me to pair them w/ camel! http://www.landsend.com/pp/ClassicBalletShoe~205075_253.html?bcc=y&action=order_more&sku_0=::ADH&CM_MERCH=IDX_00002__0000000182&origin=index

Talbots last catalogue was really great, everything looked so j crewish but when I went to one of their stores in a prime mall here in Cali it still looked stuffy, half empty and poorly merchandised along with the dirty carpets.

I love, love, love camel. As for red, one of my favorite gifts was a pair of long red leather gloves (gorgeous, I promise). I have an elbow length camel coat that I wear those gloves with all the time. Great post!

Love camel and red together, you just have to be careful not to pick a shade of red that makes you look like a Target employee, lol

Being a redhead, camel and red are staples in my closet. Good thing I love that combo!! My faves are a gorgeous camel color sweater with a large fur collar that I wear with a camel skirt and really high red t-strap heels and a thin cheetah print belt. My other fave red item is a handbag I've had for 10 years...a classic but sassy satchel that goes with everything I own.

I love camel and red! Two classic colors that always remind me of fall. I have been wanting a red coat for awhile now and I think this may be my year to splurge!
