But almost fell over when I saw the pricetag- $1,200 EACH...
Because just a couple of weeks before that, I'd helped MoS Charlotte purchase the EXACT same chair at a thrift store in Charlotte...
That came with a considerably friendlier pricetag (oh, and it was 50% off of that). We loved how hit was described as a "weaker" chair. Priceless.
One reservation we had was- is this *too close* to being a dreaded papasan chair? The scourage of craigslist everywhere and the item that has kept Pier 1 in business for all these years?
But, we much preferre the "weaker chair" because of its egg-like shape. Sort of like this one in Antibes.
Portes et fentres
This one at 14feet has a distinctly more 60's vibe- love the groovy shag pillows.
I snapped this similar egg chair at Surf Lodge in Montauk earlier this summer.
Bentwood chairs remind us a lot of their slightly more popular distant cousins, the pretzel chair. As seen in Vera Bradley founder Barbara Bakegaard's Seaside, FL home in this month's Country Living.
Also love bentwood chairs and occasional tables that show up often in magazines, like this one in Domino.
How about this fantastic bentwood bed?
I wish I had room for this Bentwood Egg Chair on Craigslist. $10? Hard to beat!
