Terrific in Toms

I picked up my first pair of Toms a few weeks ago in anticipation of my trip to Paris, and now I'm hooked. I first heard of Toms a couple of years ago, but considered them a bit crunchy for my taste. That is, until I saw these Bennet Metallic Slip Ons from the Toms for Neiman Marcus connection. I don't think these will be showing up at too many farmers markets and Phish concerts.

Toms is the brainchild of Blake Mycoskie, a Texas native and former Amazing Race contestant with a penchant for charity who may also be slightly good looking. He modeled the shoes after the traditional Alpargata shoes worn by Argentine farmers. The premise from the beginning was that he wanted to start a shoe company that, for every pair sold, would donate a pair to someone in need. Today, Tomas has given over 600,000 pairs of shoes to children in the United States, Argentina, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Guatemala, Haiti, and South Africa.

So let's talk shoes. I'm a fan of Toms in basic colors because they go with more, but I do love most of their prints and patterns, such as the Maklai Women's Vegan Classics.

There's a fun "How We Wear Them" section on their website where readers submit pictures of themselves wearing their Toms- I found this photo quite appealing!

Apparently Toms are now a trend for wedding attire- they have a whole wedding section on their website. I don't know...would you wear Toms for your wedding?

I'm interested in the newest style of Toms to hit the market, the wedges. They look quite appealing and comfortable for a summer night out. Anyone tried them? Red Stripe Calypso Canvas Wedges

I wore my Toms almost every day in Paris- they were ridiculously comfortable and provided more support than a ballet flat. The one downside was that by the end of the trip I found myself with a pretty wicked Toms tan that I am STILL trying to get rid of. Apparently I'm not the only one

Finally, Tiny Toms have to be the cutest darn things I've ever seen.

Too bad ALL of my friends have just had baby boys this year! Who can I buy these Tiny Toms Pink Glitter Classics for?

This might go over a bit better!

What's your take on Toms?

Oh my gosh--I wanted to order those wedges this week, but they didn't have my size. So cute! I'm sure the gold flats were perfect for Paris. I actually was just there as well. I picked up a pair of Bensimon "ballerines" before the trip--great for walking, but it would have been much cheaper if I had waited to get them in France!!
