Peacocks are often associated with luxury and magnificence. Peacock feathers are so vivid and beautiful that sometimes it's hard to believe they exist in nature. The male peacocks are the pretty ones- the colorful plumage and flamboyant strut serve to woo the less showy brown and tan females.

Whether as literal as a feathered headband or as figurative as a paint color, peacocks are such a chic addition to fashion and home decor.
Take for instance, the brass peacock fireplace screen.
I'm sure all of our grandmothers have at least one of these. But they can work in a modern space too! I wouldn't use them in a room that is particularly formal or precious, but isn't it a glamorous touch in the room below? It adds a necessary layer of "pretty" to this space. (Be sure to check out Craigslist and eBay for them).

THANK YOU so so much for introducing me to the peacock fire screen. I absolutely LOVE it and I am pretty sure I'm going to get one for our living room.
Love this post!! Just designing a place in NY with a Peacock as color inspiration.

That DwellStudio bedding is so dreamy, I love it!
I love the peacock dish! I also LOVE Kenneth. The mom's college degree quote cracks me up!
Global warming? Sorry, sir, that's just scientist talk. The same people who say my grandfather was a monkey. If that's true, why was he killed by a monkey?
Love the addition of Kenneth! The bumbling one!
What a great round-up! I love the Tory lucite bangle and Tarjay rain boots. Cute.
