Add Some Zest to your Nest: BAMBOO at the Sleepy Poet!

The Sleepy Poet is not so sleepy anymore.  It has been one of my favorite spots for several years now, and we posted about some of our favorite finds here.  But I am the first to admit that Sleepy Poet didn't contain one particular go-to booth where I was always guaranteed to find something good.  A day at the Sleepy Poet meant sifting through the hodgepodge of antique replicas, granny's cast-offs, and every now and then a real gem.  Until now....

We are thrilled to introduce you to Bamboo, my dear friend Emily's brand new shop at the Sleepy Poet in Charlotte!  She has spent the past couple of years traveling throughout the Southeast to seek out fabulous furniture and accessories, amassing a collection that would make even Celerie Kemble and Jonathan Adler green with envy.

Like the MoS girls, Emily has a day job that keeps her very busy, but her real passion lies with beautiful furniture and home accessories.   A Florida native, she shares our weakness for faux bamboo and brightly colored lacquer.  We can all admit that we've seen enough greige for one lifetime, so Bamboo is SUCH a breath of fresh air!

Here are a few highlights:

Isn't this white lacquered Chinese Chippendale mirror to die for?  And the black-and-white lamps?  And the pair of kelly green parrots?!

Emily describes Bamboo as the best way to "add some zest to your nest."  And she is so right!  All her pieces are professionally painted and upholstered, creating a very sophisticated look.

Her white lacquered dining table and chairs would be just gorgeous in a sunny dining room.

Hot pink lacquered dresser?  Yes please!

I would love to display my china and silver in this pretty white and gray cabinet with glass doors!

Doesn't every wall need a big gold peacock?!  We think Kelly Wearstler would approve!

And every table a shiny green parrot?

We absolutely love this brass bar cart, as well as the vintage napkin holder and ceramic rickshaw that sit atop it.

For a formal room, what about black lacquered chippendale dining chairs with green damask cushions?  I believe she has a set of 8!

This kelly green and white faux bamboo cabinet adds the perfect pop of color and Palm Beach style to any room!

Pagoda wine rack- hands down the cutest way to store wine around!

This pink-and-white settee is so perfect with lime green lacquered tables.  And of course, the soup tureen with a fruity finial!

Do you have a room in your house that feels a little too heavy or serious?  A piece from Bamboo is the perfect way to lighten things up, to add some freshness to your space.  Stop by and check out Bamboo at the Sleepy Poet!  We have a feeling these pieces won't be there for long!  Lucky for all of us, Emily has lots of surprises up her sleeve and plans to update her booth frequently.

If you aren't in Charlotte but are interested in any Bamboo furniture or accessories, send an email to groovybamboo@gmail.com to make purchasing or shipping arrangements.

For Charlotteans, when you walk into Sleepy Poet, Bamboo is located to the right down the long perimeter hallway.  You can also find Bamboo's smaller booth with the pink settee (pictured above) in the back near the vintage clothing and vinyl records.  Bamboo is exactly what Charlotte needs!  There is nothing like it here, and we couldn't be happier to share this exciting new find with you!

I may need a road trip! I grew up with several pieces like these, but did I save them from my mother'
s estate???? No, crazy me! What I'd give for just an end table or two now.
