The mother of all tailgates! I love that someone had the foresight to bring a stuffed pheasant to really top things off...

While Derby Days call for a mint julep, this girl just cannot get on board with bourbon. The julep cups- well, I'll take those!

A Pimm's cup makes a refreshing alternative for a long day outdoors (and you might just be left standing at the end of the day!)

Recipe: Pimms Cup
- Fill a Collins glass with ice.
- Mix 1 part Pimms Cup No. 1 with 2 parts lemonade.
- Stir or shake.
- Top off with club soda, or use lemon-lime soda for a sweeter drink.
- Stir lightly -- but do NOT shake again.
- Garnish with a slice of Kirby cucumber; lemon wedge optional.

the hats/fascinators are fabulous! Do you know of a good place to get them stateside?
My husband is British so we have Pimms a lot in the summer. The last time I was in London I stopped in at Fortnum & Mason and picked up a bottle of Pimms Vodka Cup. As the name suggests it is Vodka based not from Gin like the other Pimms. Very delish and refreshing! Nice post!
I'm with you on the Mint Julep, we just went to Keenland and I forced down a mint julep just so I could buy some cups later.
Ooo you left out Kate Middleton! She always has the best hats on at these events! LOVE the hats. I've never been to any kind of race. It would be quite the experience!

I have always wanted to go to a horse race, but it has never happened...yet! It looks like such a glamorous place!
I went to the Henley Royal Regatta a year ago and have been on the man hunt for Pimms! Texans clearly do not understand! Love the post!
Never been to a race, but I do love a mint julep or a Pimms Cup (so maybe I just drink like a Southerner/English woman?).
