Alabaster Lamps

Alabaster lamps are a fabulous way to add an organic element to your room!  Alabaster is a type of gypsum rock that is usually light in color and is perfect for vases and lamps.  We especially love the urn-shaped alabaster lamps that have been around for ages.  They are timeless and elegant, and you can easily update a vintage or antique lamp with a fresh new shade.  You can often find them at antique shops, on craigslist, or on eBay, and they normally aren't too expensive.

How stylish is Drew Barrymore's office, designed by Ruthie Sommers?  The alabaster lamp perfectly anchors her bookcase!

While alabaster is typically off-white, it sometimes comes in other shades like the pink here.  What a lovely, feminine bedroom!

This little vignette is a bit more country than our tastes, but it is beautiful just the same.

How dramatic are these black walls and the black furniture?  The cream alabaster lamp stands out beautifully against such a dramatic backdrop!

Alabaster lamps are super easy to find on eBay!  Add a modern shade, and they are such a fantastic way to add that "something old" to your room.

eBay, currently $90

eBay, currently $28

If you don't want to go the eBay route, you can buy them retail as well.

Do you like them as much as we do?!

Love them all! It seems every time I've come across fantastic alabaster lamps they're perfect for a client project and I hand them over. Maybe one day I'll add some to my interior. :)
