One of our latest obsessions is the sawhorse table. Its lines are clean and architectural. It can serve as a desk, a sofa table, a console table, or even a dining table. Our favorite use is as a desk- we love how the glass top keeps a room light and airy, as opposed to the traditional wooden desks that are so dark and heavy.
Sawhorse desks have been growing in popularity recently. However, a quick search on 1st Dibs shows that sawhorse desks have been around for years.
This desk is the perfect marriage of form and function. A common complaint of sawhorse desks is the lack of storage space. This desk is the best of both worlds- sawhorse on one side and filing drawers on the other!

Sawhorse bases make such an interesting and unique dining room table!

A sawhorse desk in natural wood... What a fab combination of modern lines with this desk's rustic charm.
We can't stop thinking about Elle Decor's spread on the home of Nate Berkus and Brian Atwood. A minimalist sawhorse desk anchors Nate's office, and the chrome chair with fretwork detailing is absolutely fabulous. We love the contrast between the modern lines of the desk and chairs, compared to the warm and cozy striped dhurrie rug.
This sawhorse desk with a wooden top and sawhorse legs is modern and stylish. The shiny polished chrome legs add some glamour that you just can't find with a chunky all-wood desk.
The glass topped sawhorse desk in this Ruthie Sommers-designed office keeps it looking light and airy. We'll take an office like this any day over one with dark wood paneling and heavy rugs.
Another version of the West Elm desk... The polished dark nickel legs are the perfect way to "ground" the clear glass desktop.
Wisteria's take on the sawhorse desk is quintessential Wisteria. From the nautical accessories to the worn finish, this desk, while brand new, seems like it has been loved for many years.
The Mason desk from Williams-Sonoma Home is the holy grail of sawhorse desks. The proportions are just perfect, and the legs are that eyecatching, perfectly polished chrome. One day...
And finally, let it be said that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. I was so greatly inspired by MoS Washington's creativity in her own sawhorse desk that I had to copy her fantastic idea. She even was kind enough to let me drag her to Ikea today. I'll wait to let her show you her DIY sawhorse desk project, but I will tell you that it involved Ikea's Vika Trestles. However, the end result is oh so much more fabulous than what is pictured below!
