Real Style with Faux Bois

Faux Bois is French for "false wood" and has been used in interior designs since the late 1800's.  It can take the form of concrete furniture, wooden accessories, or even paneling on walls.  Although wood paneling or tree-like furniture may sound rustic, faux bois pieces can be sleek and stylish.

Take, for instance, this guest room with Oly's white faux bois console table.  It adds a chic element to this room.

This room has a double-dose of faux bois.  The gold faux bois mirror is so elegant on the faux bois paneled walls.  What a perfect powder room!

This T. Keller Donovan room also has faux bois paneled walls.  These are a world away from 1970's wood paneling.  They are perfect for keeping this room from being too nautical.

I'd never think to look to Crate and Barrel for faux bois, but Crate and Barrel is indeed the source of this fabulous console table.

We have loved this marble-topped gold faux bois end table forever.  It would be so gorgeous in a living room.

Or if you are on a budget, how about this table from Grandin Road?  On a side note, while you may not want to furnish your entire house at Grandin Road, MoS Washington once ordered some kilim pillows from them, and they turned out to be fabulous!

We love the contrast of rustic wood with glamorous gold!  These Nate Berkus candlesticks would be beautiful in any room!

This faux bois mirror would be perfect for an entryway or powder room.

Our vote for our favorite faux bois item that we've featured goes to these plates with faux bois trim from Room Service Home.

Who knew Martha Stewart would design such a modern rug?  This rug would be fabulous in the right room!

Isn't this faux bois occasional chair so fun?!  I've seen it used as a dining chair, and it looks great paired with a modern table.

Faux bois textured porcelain plates are so fun and modern for your table!

We are obsessed with so many Oly designs!  Isn't the little birdie adorable?!

If you like the Martha Stewart rug above but not its pricetag, how about this indoor/ outdoor rug?  The yellow is our favorite!

Grandin Road, $99 for 5x8

We would love to give this paperweight as a fun prezzie!  Paperweights are something we almost never buy for ourselves but love to have on a stylish desk!

Do you do faux bois?
