Staying Dry

This weekend, while exploring at the Sleepy Poet with a fab MoS friend, I stumbled upon a vintage ceramic faux bamboo umbrella holder.  Umbrella stands are not only functional, but they are such a fun accessory for your entryway!

Here are some of our favorites:

We love these tall tin buckets from the Macbeth Collection.  We wouldn't choose the pink and green paisleys shown here, but we do love some of their more modern graphic patterns.  And monogram it!

How fun is this ceramic rainboot stand from Z Gallerie?  It adds such a fun modern element to your entryway.

We have mixed feelings about these stands, and that may be because we aren't fond of the green and orange color combo shown in the picture.  If you take each piece individually, though, the grommets and crocodile embossed leather can be fun.  Right?!

Or course Mr. Adler knows how to make a fun lacquered turquoise umbrella stand!  The octagonal shape adds interest and dimension.

If you want to splurge on a classic stand, look no further than this handmade red stand from Well Appointed House.  It just says "gentleman" to us, and we love the simple lines.

You know about our obsession with faux bamboo, and this stand is no exception!  The color is a little greenish on our computer, so we'd like to see this in real life to see if it's good as/is or if it needs to be painted.

Isn't this handpainted clover shaped stand so elegant?  We love the elephants and the bright colors- a great way to add a splash of color to your entryway!

The stand on the left with painted umbrellas is one of our favorites!  These are expensive, but they are handpainted in Italy, in very limited numbers, by a talented artist.

Hot air balloons just make us happy.  We love these bright colors!

Like the rainboots stand above, this little owl is adorable and such a fun way to add a modern detail to your entryway!  We think this little guy could perk you up on the dreariest of rainy days!

After finding the faux bamboo ceramic stand over the weekend, I did a little hunting online to see if I could find something similar.  Of course I found something at 1st Dibs (for a 1st Dibs price...)

This adorable stand reminds us of Mary Poppins!!  And like everything else from Pier 1, the price is right!!

Ebay can be a good resource for umbrella stands too!  This green and white chinoiserie stand is so elegant and priced well!

We love the clean lines and interesting style of this brass umbrella stand!  We'll admit it would be better for dry umbrellas than wet ones, but it really is a great way to add some visual interest to your entryway!

Is brass totally boring?  There is something classic that we really like about this stand.  Could Kelly Wearstler make it cool?  You tell us!

And here is the stand I found at the Sleepy Poet for $30!  I love the bamboo and rattan detailing.   I am not crazy about the color, so I will probably paint it, maybe black or white.  Anyone have any tips for painting ceramic or porcelain?

Do you have an umbrella stand in your home?  Which is your favorite?

Sleepy poet strikes again! Have you ever thought of painting yours two tone- like spray it black then paint the bamboo accents gold?

Great post...I was in Atlanta all last week during the massive floods and was realizing that I am lacking in attractive rain gear! And no umbrella stand but I have always wanted a fantastic one.
