An Infatuation with Emilio (Pucci)

We have to admit we are a little obsessed with Pucci prints! We love the vibrant colors and the imaginative patterns. They especially make us happy in the hottest of hot summer weather. This designer has truly stood the test of time- from the line's inception in the late 1940's to its cult-like status in the 1950's and 60's with fans like Jackie Kennedy and Sophia Loren, to its resurgence in 2000 when it was purchased by LVMH.

Love this ad from the 1960's. I have a terry tote from a couple years ago in the same print!

Emilio Pucci designed the uniforms for Braniff Airline's flight attendants in the mid-1960's. Their slogan was, "The end of the plain plane." HOW FUN?! We would totally re-think our career choices if a Pucci uniform was an option.
Boy has flying changed! The flight attendants here look so.... happy!!
They even wore clear helmets over their Pucci scarves to protect their hair. We love us some lucite, but....

Post-LVMH, the prints really haven't changed that much. We love the over-the-top geometrics and slim cuts of the clothing.
How fun is this tote? The MoS girls love their Pucci bags and carry them all summer long. During an Elle Woods moment, one of us even lugged our laptop and law school books around in a Pucci tote. (Note: MoS DC recently spotted some large Pucci terry totes at the Friendship Heights Loehmanns for about $220! And the patterns were fab!)

Love the colors of this vintage scarf! MoS Charlotte has to admit that one of the BEST presents she ever received was a silk Pucci scarf from a fabulous friend!

How gorgeous is the pattern of this scarf? It looks like a stained glass window!
We love this little card case! So cute to carry in your bag and the perfect size to fit inside a clutch when your wallet is too big!
This pink and green pattern makes us happy!
Love the vivid colors of this silk scarf! Emilio Pucci Cristallo Scarf, $295
This tunic is adorable! We would pair with skinny white pants, big chandeliers, and a fun patent clutch!
And Pucci isn't just for clothes anymore. We are loving Pucci pieces that transition from fashion to home decor! Take for example, the throw pillow. This is such a simple DIY project. MoS Charlotte took a Pucci scarf she bought way on sale ($25 at Eluxury, maybe that is why they are out of business....), sewed on some cotton backing, added a down insert, and voila, now a fabulous Pucci pillow!

Or if you prefer to purchase rather than sew yourself, check out Mad About Mod. Their selection changes regularly, but you can find some great pillows like the one pictured below!
For a VERY dramatic piece of Pucci in your home, check out these vintage chairs! They are wild and daring, but we think it could work in the right room (especially the second one)!

How gorgeous is this living room in Reid and Delphine Krakoff's home in the Hamptons? We love their use of yellow swirly Pucci scarf pillows, in contrast to the straight lines in the rest of the room.
Elle Decor
This living room is hands' down one of our favorites ever. We would do anything to have a better picture of it, but when we first spotted it in Southern Accents in 2006, we were in love! This picture doesn't do it justice, but the throw pillows on the sofa are constructed of pink and fuchsia geometric silk scarves.
Southern Accents.
Pucci pillows, fresh flowers, a flokati rug, and a Birkin bag. Yes please.

Photo Courtesy of This is Glamorous The fall-ish color combo of these Pucci pillows isn't our favorite, but we love the concept here! Who needs a headboard when you have such dramatic pillows?! The art grouping on the wall is fabulous too!
Apartment Therapy And just for fun.... we would love to celebrate in style with some special edition 1996 Pucci Veuve Cliquot! Only the best!

What a GREAT post. I'm in love with the rooms and all those Pucci pillows. I'm also incredibly impressed with the DIY Pucci pillow by MoS Charlotte. Come decorate my house, please.
